Privacy Policy
Last updated: June 18, 2026
Refyne ("we," "us," or "our") operates a browser extension that enhances AI prompts. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have.
The short version: Refyne does not store the content of your prompts. We collect only what's needed to run the free trial, process payments, and keep the service working — your email (if you upgrade), an anonymous device ID, and basic usage counts.
1. Information we collect
We collect the following categories of information:
- Anonymous device identifier. On install, Refyne generates a random ID stored locally in your browser. This lets us enforce free trial limits without requiring an account. It is not linked to your identity unless you upgrade to Pro.
- Email address. Collected only when you choose to upgrade to Refyne Pro, used to process your subscription and send account-related emails (receipts, renewal notices, support replies).
- Prompt content, temporarily. When you use the Enhance feature, your prompt text is sent to our backend, which forwards it to an AI model provider to generate a rewritten version. This text is not stored after the request completes and is not used to train any model.
- Usage data. We track how many enhancements you've used (to enforce free tier limits) and basic performance metrics (response times, error rates) to keep the service reliable.
- Saved library and history. If you save prompts to your library, this is stored locally in your browser, not on our servers.
2. How we use this information
- To provide the core function of the extension — scoring and rewriting prompts
- To enforce free trial limits and identify Pro subscribers
- To process payments through our payment processor, Lemon Squeezy
- To send transactional emails (login codes, receipts, subscription status changes)
- To diagnose bugs and improve reliability
3. Third parties we work with
Refyne relies on the following service providers, each of which processes limited data on our behalf:
- Groq, Inc. — processes prompt text to generate enhanced versions. Subject to Groq's own data handling practices.
- Lemon Squeezy — processes payments and subscription billing as the merchant of record. Handles your payment details directly; we never see or store your card information.
- Cloudflare, Inc. — hosts our backend infrastructure and temporary usage data.
- Resend — delivers transactional emails (login codes, receipts).
4. What we don't do
- We do not sell your data to advertisers or third parties.
- We do not store your prompt content after a request completes.
- We do not track your browsing activity outside of supported AI platforms.
- We do not require an account to use the free tier.
5. Data retention
Anonymous device IDs and usage counts are retained for as long as your install is active. Email addresses for Pro subscribers are retained for the duration of your subscription plus 90 days for billing and support purposes. You can request deletion of your data at any time by contacting us.
6. Your rights
You can request access to, correction of, or deletion of any personal data we hold about you by emailing hello@refyne.app. You can also uninstall the extension at any time, which removes all locally stored data (library, history, device ID) from your browser immediately.
7. Children's privacy
Refyne is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect data from children under 13.
8. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the product evolves. Material changes will be reflected with an updated "Last updated" date at the top of this page.
